I took one bite and immediately understood why people keep talking about this little local business. The cake is unbelievably rich, incredibly moist, and somehow perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, just pure, decadent chocolate in every bite. You can tell this isn't mass-produced. It tastes homemade in the best possible way, with the kind of quality and attention to detail that's almost impossible to find anymore. Fair warning: if you bring one to a family gathering, birthday party, or office party, expect everyone to ask where you got it, and don't expect leftovers. Supporting a local small business is great. If you’re searching for the best chocolate cake in Carmel/Indianapolis, do yourself a favor and order the friendly neighborhood chocolate cake from Love, Ky Cakes. I’m admittedly picky about ingredients, especially when it comes to food for my kids, and I LOVE that this is a classic, homemade chocolate cake made with simple, minimal ingredients. No mile-long mystery ingredient list. You know what you’re eating, and apparently the secret ingredient is just knowing how to make a damn good cake. The cake itself was perfectly moist without being overly rich or heavy, and the chocolate frosting was chef’s kiss. My daughter loved it, but the real plot twist was her friend, who doesn’t even like chocolate cake, absolutely loved it too. And I’m just going to say it: it’s better than your grandma’s chocolate cake. I said what I said. 😂 Also, normalize buying a delicious, simple birthday cake and throwing your own cake topper on it. Not every birthday needs a $100+ architectural masterpiece covered in fondant that tastes vaguely like drywall, while we all stand around convincing ourselves it’s amazing because it cost as much as the electric bill. Sometimes you just need a really freaking good cake. If you’re looking for a local Carmel baker, homemade birthday cake, chocolate birthday cake, custom cake, or classic chocolate cake in the Indianapolis/Carmel area, Love, Ky Cakes is absolutely worth ordering from. 10/10.
